London consulate or filing from Spain?
Applying through the Consulate General of Spain in London (England and Wales) or Edinburgh (Scotland and Northern Ireland), through BLS Spain Visa centres gives you a one-year visa; you then apply for your TIE card in Spain. Filing from Spain — while you are there legally as a visitor — goes to the UGE and gives a residence permit of up to three years directly. Documents such as the ACRO police certificate must be apostilled by the FCDO Legalisation Office and translated by a sworn translator.
